Legendary Character

While Gambon had an impressive repertoire of films and TV series to his name, including "The Singing Detective," "Gosford Park," and "The King's Speech," he will always be remembered as Professor Dumbledore in the "Harry Potter" films. After the passing of original actor Richard Harris, Gambon took on the role from the third film until the series' conclusion. Jude Law has since portrayed a younger version of Albus Dumbledore in the "Fantastic Beasts" prequels.

Gambon is survived by his wife, mathematician Anne Miller, their son Fergus, and two other children from a previous relationship. Our thoughts go out to his family during this difficult time.
